A Conference on the Virtue of Peace
April 13 - 15, 2023 

The 2023 Conference on the Virtue of Peace seeks to gather scholars for a national conversation on the importance of civic virtue in shaping a society dedicated to the furtherance of the common good.  We invite papers examining the origins of democracy, the conditions of a civil society, ethical norms for political participation, the characteristics of flourishing communities, and education for citizenship.

James Bowey Photo Media Artist and Professor

"Searching for Empathy and Human Connection in Divided Times"

7 p.m.–Weber Center for Performing Arts 

James Bowey, assistant professor of photography and digital imaging, and an active photo media artist. He has a deep professional experience as an international photographer, filmmaker, and editor; and he has developed and taught an innovative set of photography and digital imaging courses based on a theory and practice pedagogy. His scholarly agenda is focused on new media image theory and emerging models of media arts for which he's created a set of national and regional projects as laboratories for teaching and learning. As an artist and teacher, Bowey's goal is to create compelling work and prepare students in emerging modes of photography and digital imaging for contemporary media arts careers. 

This lecture is part of the A Conference of the Virtue of Peace and is free and open to the public. No tickets necessary.
